The Jean Monnet House<\/strong> last week hosted the 10th meeting of the Network of Political Centres and Foundations of Great Europeans<\/strong>, a network established in 2017 to bring together institutions dedicated to the figures who have shaped the European project since 1945. The Jean Monnet Association was represented by Miguel \u00c1ngel Mart\u00edn Ramos<\/a> and Eric Pestel<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Theme for the 2026 edition<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The meeting was devoted to the protection of Europe\u2019s cultural heritage<\/strong> and at the highlighting the legacy of the leading figures in European integration<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presentations and contributions<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The discussions were opened by Jutta Schulze-Hollm\u00e9n<\/strong>, Director of Visitors\u2019 Services at the European Parliament. Several speakers then shared their expertise:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Massimiliano Coccia<\/strong>, a journalist, on raising awareness of European history<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Marco Marchetti<\/strong>, Ministry of Culture, on the label Maison des Illustres<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Miguel \u00c1ngel Mart\u00edn Ramos<\/strong> on the European Heritage Label<\/strong> and the Council of Europe Cultural Routes<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    As the Yuste Foundation\u2019s representative in Brussels and vice-president of the Jean Monnet Association, Miguel \u00c1ngel Mart\u00edn Ramos gave a presentation entitled: \u00abPromoting European culture and history to strengthen European values and identity\u00bb<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    He illustrated his point with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • the European Heritage Label<\/strong>, which is of particular benefit to the monastery at Yuste<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • the Council of Europe Cultural Routes<\/strong>, in particular the The Journeys of Charles V<\/em>, launched nearly 20 years ago<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Overall objective<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      To highlight the places of remembrance associated with major European figures \u2014 Jean Monnet, Altiero Spinelli, Robert Schuman, Winston Churchill, Bronis\u0142aw Geremek, Felipe Gonz\u00e1lez, Louise Weiss\u2026 \u2014 so that they may:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n
      • to obtain the European Heritage Label<\/strong>, or<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • be incorporated into a European Cultural Route<\/strong> recognised.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        The event was hailed as an inspiring opportunity for discussion on the preservation and promotion of European heritage. The participants expressed their gratitude to the Maison Jean Monnet for organising the event and hosting them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
